What is a BookBub Featured Deal, and how is it different from BookBub Ads?
BookBub's marketing-tools overview, updated 25 June 2026 and checked 8 October 2026, describes Featured Deals as daily emails of free and discounted ebooks, chosen by editors, with links to a reader's retailers. Minimum requirements apply. Because space is limited, only 10 to 20 percent of eligible deals are selected. Submitting is free. The charge is a flat fee by deal price, category, and regions: the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia. BookBub Ads, on the same page, are a self-serve auction. There is no minimum and no editorial review, so a partner can advertise a book at any time, within the ad policies. You set the budget and the bid, and the price depends on the auction. Ads can also reach Chirp members in the US. The cost article, updated 17 September 2026, says the Featured Deal fee is one-time, that BookBub adjusts prices from time to time, and that you are charged only after you confirm.[268][293]
- A Featured Deal waits for an editor. An ad does not.
- The Featured Deal fee is flat and is not an auction. The ad price is the auction.
- The overview also names other tools, including Free Reads and New in Kindle Unlimited. Those are separate products, with their own prices.

What are the eligibility, discount, submission, and selection rules?
The requirements article, updated 9 March 2023 and checked 8 October 2026, says the book must be at least 50 percent off the predominant recent price. It cannot have been at the deal price for more than 14 days in total in the recent past, except free deals, including permafree, and it cannot have been offered at a better price in that period. Recent past is not a number of days. You need not discount before submitting. If selected, BookBub suggests starting the discount a few days ahead and does not require a day count. New releases are rarely featured. Books with time to build a platform and reviews have performed best. The article gives no sales count. It says BookBub has seen a significant decrease in sales for Featured Deals between 0.99, 1.99, and 2.99 USD, and gives no figure. About 10 to 15 percent of US submissions are selected. You may resubmit after four weeks. The overview's 10 to 20 percent of eligible deals is a different sentence. A box set needs one included book BookBub has not promoted in six months, by an author with no BookBub promotion in the past 30 days. Multi-author box sets are not featured.[269][293]
- At least 50 percent off. The page does not define recent past in days.
- About 10 to 15 percent of US submissions. Separately, 10 to 20 percent of eligible deals. Do not treat those as one rate.
- No cited BookBub page states a revenue multiple that means the fee paid for itself.

What pricing does BookBub publish?
The pricing page, checked 8 October 2026, lists the current cost by category, discount price, and region. A promotion includes a guaranteed email spot, a custom blurb, and other placements. A deal missing from some retailers or regions goes only to a subset of subscribers. BookBub says it cannot guarantee an open or a view. Columns are Free, 0.99 USD, 1 to 2 USD, 2 to 3 USD, and 3 USD or more, plus subscribers and click ranges. Click ranges are the 25th to 75th percentile of recent promotions, not a guarantee, and not sales. On that day Children's was 122 USD free and 572 USD at 3 USD or more, with 270,000 or more subscribers. Historical Fiction was 897 USD free and 4,216 USD at 3 USD or more, with 1,670,000 or more subscribers. Those two rows are not a high and a low for the chart. Prices change. Use the live chart.[294]
- Children's, as listed that day: 122 USD free, 572 USD at 3 USD or more.
- Historical Fiction, as listed that day: 897 USD free, 4,216 USD at 3 USD or more.
- A click range is not a sales figure, and the page says it is not a promise.

What do other newsletter services state about their own requirements?
Each rule is that service's own page, checked 8 October 2026. This is not a ranking. Freebooksy requires the book to be free until midnight PST, and says raising the price early ends future promotions. The minimum is 50 pages, with occasional exceptions for children's books and some nonfiction. It states no review minimum. An Amazon average below 3 stars may keep the book off the email. The same page also says it does not restrict discount depth, beside the rule that the book is free. Bargain Booksy uses that 50-page minimum and the same review language, does not restrict discount depth, and requires the discount until midnight PST. The Fussy Librarian requires a free book to be free all day on US time, and says a 5-day KDP Select free run may get more exposure. A bargain is 0.99 to 5.99 USD. It recommends 0.99 or 2.99 USD and does not require either. Reviews are recommended, not required, and new releases are accepted. Genre prices are on a separate page and are not copied here. It does not guarantee copies sold. It says 60 percent of Mystery reader clicks came after day 1, and that this is not a promise for every book.[295][296][297]
- Freebooksy: free until midnight PST, 50 pages, no stated review count.
- Bargain Booksy: discounted until midnight PST, and no stated minimum discount depth.
- The Fussy Librarian: free for the day, or 0.99 to 5.99 USD. Genre prices are on its prices page.

How should a writer decide, and what should they track?
Read the fee for your category and price, then check whether the book can be at least 50 percent off without breaking a price you already locked. A Kindle Countdown Deal runs only on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, after 30 days in KDP Select, as one block of up to 7 days. The regular price must stay unchanged for 30 days before and 14 days after. BookBub's 14-day line is time already spent at the deal price. Neither page requires a Countdown Deal. A KDP Select free promotion, checked on that help page on 7 October 2026, is up to 5 days in a 90-day term and pays no royalty. BookBub does not apply the 14-day rule to free deals. A Select ebook stays exclusive to Amazon, so BookBub's subset rule applies when other retailers do not have the deal. Track the price, the confirmed fee, and KDP royalties, including other books. BookBub states no sell-through rate. Click ranges are not that rate. No cited page states a conversion rate or a profit line.[24][89][260][269][293][294]
- Match the BookBub discount rules to the KDP price rules before you submit.
- A Select ebook is not on other retailers, so BookBub's own page says the email goes to a subset.
- Keep the fee, the price, and the royalty report. Do not fill the gap with a sales number the site does not give.
